It has been nearly 200 years since Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, and their Corps of Discovery made the voyage that changed them from ordinary men to mythic heroes and left an everlasting imprint on our history, geography, and identity. 

The explores' treacherous journey through the unmapped lands west of the Mississippi - including an unthinkable portage of some 220 miles across the most formidable mountains in North America - was well documented by the two men themselves, in daily journals that recorded their every fascinating event and encounter. 

London Jones draws upon these journals, and in the words of the explorers recapitulates for us that long and arduous journey.
