Saint Edith's life then and now.

Rev. dr. John Sullivan, O.C.D.

The canonization of Edith Stein in October 1998 drew the world's attention once again to the remarkable life of a gifted intellectual, who was born into a Jewish family, entered a Carmelite monastery, and was murdered at Auschwitz.

Theologian and Carmelite friar, Father John Sullivan, an editor of the English-language edition of the Collected Works of Edith Stein (Institute of Carmelite Studies, 1986 - five volumes to data) and founder of the Carmelite Studies series, discusses Edith Stein's professional and literary accomplishments and the importance Pope John Paul II attaches to her as role model for committed believers.
